ecobee Wrap Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 15, 2025

Quick Privacy Summary

  • Your ecobee login isn’t stored. It’s used once to authorize your account; if access expires, you’ll be asked to sign in again.
  • Paid users can sync settings to Firebase. No personal info is stored, access is authenticated, and you can delete this data anytime.
  • We collect basic device & usage data. Firebase Analytics helps improve features and performance. Some data from ecobee (e.g., zipcode) may appear in analytics, but we don’t use it to identify or track you.
  • Crash reports only include technical info. Firebase Crashlytics receives error details to help us fix issues—no personal data.
  • Location is optional. We only use precise location if you enable Geofencing. Firebase may use location if you’ve granted Google permission in your device settings.
  • No selling or broad sharing of data. We don’t share your info beyond Firebase Analytics/Crashlytics as described.
  • Easy opt-out. Uninstall the app to stop data collection. We retain collected data up to 12 months, sometimes longer in aggregate (non-personal) form.
  • Not for kids under 13. The app isn’t intended for children.
  • U.S. processing. Data is processed and stored in the United States.

Full Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application ecobee Wrap (“Application”), created by SupremeVue, collects, uses, and protects your information. The Application connects to the ecobee platform, allowing you to view and control your thermostats, adjust temperature and schedules, and manage other thermostat settings.

1. Information We Collect and How We Use It

A. User-Provided Information

When you first download and run the Application, you must enter your ecobee account email and password to authorize access. We do not store your email or password on your device or our servers. This information is used only to obtain the required ecobee authorization. If authorization expires, you will be prompted to re-enter your credentials.

B. Firebase Login Information (Paid Subscribers)

Paid subscribers can choose to store certain Application settings and report data in Google Firebase Cloud. No personally identifiable information is stored. Only authenticated users can access this data. You may delete your account or stored data at any time via the Application. See Data Retention for details.

C. Automatically Collected Information

The Application may automatically collect technical and usage data, including:

  • Device type and operating system
  • Unique device ID
  • IP address
  • Application usage patterns

We use Google’s Firebase Analytics to gather usage data, such as retrieving location ID, thermostat ID, outside temperature, changing settings, and switching modes. Some data from ecobee (e.g., zipcode) may appear in analytics, but we do not use it to identify or track you.

2. Crash Reporting and Error Logs

If the Application encounters an error or crashes, technical data is sent to Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose and resolve issues. No personal information is sent. If you choose to send log files to SupremeVue, we receive exactly what ecobee has provided to the Application (which may include your zipcode).

3. Location Information

The Application does not collect precise location data unless you enable Geofencing. When enabled, you will be asked for permission to access your location. Firebase Analytics may use location if you have granted Google permission in your device settings. This is not requested or required by the Application.

4. Third-Party Access

No third parties have access to your data except as described above in relation to Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.

5. Opt-Out Rights

You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the Application using your device’s standard uninstall process.

6. Data Retention

User-provided data (e.g., settings, authentication tokens) is retained only while you use the Application and is deleted upon uninstall. Collected information may be stored for up to 12 months and may be retained in aggregate form thereafter.

7. Children’s Privacy

This Application is not intended for children under 13 and is not marketed to them.

8. Security

We limit access to Firebase Analytics information to authorized employees and contractors. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted here, and continued use of the Application constitutes acceptance of any changes.

10. Your Consent

By using the Application, you consent to the collection, processing, and storage of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. All processing occurs in the United States, and if you reside outside the U.S., your information will be transferred and stored under U.S. privacy standards.
